Juniper Advocacy Statement

As the global population continues to age at an unprecedented rate, the need for meaningful change in the aged care sector has never been more urgent.

According to the World Health Organisation, by 2030, one in six people worldwide will be aged 60 or over, and by 2050, the global population of individuals aged 60 and older is projected to reach 2.1 billion.

This demographic shift is particularly pronounced in Australia, where the number of people turning 75 will rise sharply from 35,000 per year to 50,000 in the next three years, remaining at that level for the next 30-40 years.

With an aging population, the demand for high-quality aged care is set to increase exponentially. It is clear, now is the time for action.

Aged care will continue to be a focal point leading into and beyond the 2025 Federal election. It is critical that the voices of those advocating for positive reform are heard.

Juniper is at the forefront of this movement with a vision to drive meaningful change in the aged care sector by advocating for policy improvements that ensure older Australians receive the quality care and support they deserve.

By advocating for policy improvements in aged care, we aim to ensure that older Australians receive the quality care they deserve while building a robust and sustainable workforce to meet the sector’s growing needs.

However, we cannot drive meaningful reform alone; we recognise the importance of collaboration with key stakeholders both within and beyond our sector.

Our approach is not only focused on policy changes but also on building lasting partnerships that foster dialogue, mutual understanding, and support across the aged care sector.
