A day in the life of an Occupational Therapist

In celebration of Occupational Therapy Week 2024, we tagged along with Juniper Community Occupational Therapist Lisa Smith to see what a regular workday looks like.

From meetings with colleagues and sorting out paperwork to traveling across Perth’s northern suburbs to visit Juniper customers and sourcing equipment, Lisa keeps a busy pace.

Lisa enjoys her occupational therapy role as it’s so varied and supports customers in their home environments.

“I find this role really rewarding as I get to know the clients over time,” Lisa said. “I get to find out what’s important to them, to get back to doing the things that they enjoy doing, such as getting back to the shops, making their own meals and daily tasks.”

A snappy video below takes you along for the workday and shows how Lisa helps Juniper customers continue to live independently in their own homes and stay connected to the community they love.

“I get to know what each customer's goals are, and I get to know what they want to work on to improve their lives.”
