After looking after his late wife, Bill Holt knew his calling in life was caring.
“I had always worked in construction, and when my wife passed away my mental health declined, and it made me realise that I am at my happiest when I am helping others,” said Bill.
Bill now works with Juniper home care clients in the Wheatbelt, and his main goal is to keep his clients living independently at home and enjoying the things they want to do without having to worry about the day-to-day. Working within each client’s Home Care Package Bill ensures the support he provides to clients are within their care plan. Listening to what is important to them and what they need is important.
“I will do whatever I need to do to help keep my clients at home. I help them with their personal care, and shopping, and take them to and from appointments and on adventure day trips. Whatever they need from me that day, I will do,” said Bill.
“Some of my clients call my work ‘Bills Adventures’ and when I go to pick them up, they are rubbing their hands with excitement.”
“For my clients who choose to go on day trips, I have created an ‘adventure list’ that I put in their files, so they can share with their families where they have gone,’ added Bill.
Angie Slater, Director of Home Care and Retirement Living said at Juniper we believe everyone should be supported to live their best life.
“Each day, Juniper assists hundreds of people with everyday tasks like showering, housework, shopping, nursing, allied health care, and more. We celebrate the unique differences in every individual. That is why we offer a range of care and support services to achieve your personal goals,” said Angie.
As everyone’s care needs are different, there are four levels of Home Care Packages with different funding amounts available from the government. If you need home care funding, the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) from the Department of Health come to see you to assess what package you would be eligible for.
