Christmas trees with a difference add festive fun

Donated pallets re-purposed by Care and Share members have a new home as colourful wooden Christmas trees at Juniper Waratah Lodge Residential Aged Care Home in Wagin.

A volunteer-based organisation, Care and Share supports Wagin by devoting their time and efforts to a variety of community projects.

With this latest venture, the dedicated vollies have used their wood working skills to create hard wearing trees that can be enjoyed for years to come.

After sharing their ideas for the trees with Care and Share volunteers, Juniper Waratah Lodge residents painted and decorated each of the eye-catching trees.

So keen to make the trees look a festive treat, some residents spent many hours putting the finishing touches on the artworks.

As well as adding a Christmas feel to Juniper Waratah Lodge, the colourfully decorated creations are also in the running for awards at this month’s Shire of Wagin Christmas Street Carnival.

Contest judges will soon compare notes on the impressive works, which are currently on display at the front of Juniper Waratah Lodge.

Juniper staff say the wooden trees have had an amazing response from the community and make everybody smile once they spot them on arrival.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed decorating the trees and looked forward to sharing their artistic efforts with the Wagin community.
