Happy 75th birthday Juniper

Celebrating 75 years of caring for older Western Australians is a big achievement, and Juniper proudly reached this incredible milestone on Monday, 18 November 2024.

We started in 1949, caring for vulnerable older women widowed by the second World War and that sense of purpose to support others continues today. We do this with plenty of heart, compassion, and dedication to the changing needs of Western Australians.

We want to empower all older Western Australians to hold onto their independence and identity as they journey into old age, connected to the people, passions and places that brings them joy.

What sets Juniper apart is that we’re here to keep our customers connected to what brings them joy.

Juniper CEO Russell Bricknell said he was extremely proud of everything that the organisation had achieved over the past 75 years, and its drive to make aged care even better across WA.

“None of our achievements could have been possible without our incredible staff who through those 75 years have shown great expertise, compassion and kindness,” Mr Bricknell said.

“Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and with such an enthusiastic and committed team , the future for Juniper looks bright.”

To celebrate its 75th birthday, Juniper will be holding a free photography exhibition titled ‘Wise – The voice of older Western Australians’ at the Perth Town Hall from 21 to 27 November.

Featuring the work of one of Australia’s foremost portrait photographers, Steve Wise, the exhibition celebrates older Western Australians and the amazing lives they are leading. Alongside the stunning portraits of our Juniper customers are videos of their own unique, fascinating and touching personal stories.

The exhibition will also present key research, commissioned by Juniper and carried out by leading researchers CoreData, which gives older Western Australians a voice about issues that affect them today.

Juniper has a privileged position of being able to provide compassionate care to older Western Australians.

“Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and with such an enthusiastic and committed team, the future for Juniper looks bright.”
