On International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, we asked Juniper staff for their thoughts about what gender equality and this year’s theme means to them.
The theme for IWD this year is Accelerate Action, which highlights the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality and address systemic barriers and biases that women face in personal and professional spheres.
Staff members from across several Juniper sites shared their thoughts on the theme and why IWD is so important.
– Registered Nurse Akriti believes that it’s about everyone being invited to the table, treating people equally and distributing resource opportunities and rewards equally regardless of gender.
– Multiskilled Carer Sandeep believes in equality for women and to eliminate discrimination.
– Registered Nurse Urvashi puts a big emphasis on education and employment being equal for all.
– Multiskilled Carer Jasmine believes in recognising women for the quality of their work and the contribution they make to society.
– Residential Manager Jiabao considers that the theme reminds us that progress has been made in gender equality, but it needs to be at a faster pace for women to have equal opportunities in every sphere.
– Clinical Nurse Manager Kennie believes that IWD recognises the compassion, strength, and unwavering commitment of aged care workers around the globe. Keep leading, keep inspiring, and keep making history.
Women make up 86 per cent of the Juniper workforce, with a sizeable proportion of staff originally from overseas including big contingents from the Philippines, India, Nepal and the United Kingdom.
IWD remains a vital opportunity to put the focus on gender equality and to thank all of the dedicated women working at Juniper for the tremendous and compassionate support they provide across the state.
