PALM representative touches base with Fijian staff in Derby

A recent visit to Derby by a Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) representative has provided a great opportunity to touch base with Fijian staff at Juniper Numbala Nunga.

Designed to fill labour gaps across regional and rural areas in Australia, the PALM scheme enables employers to hire reliable and productive workers, while providing Pacific and Timor-Leste workers the opportunity to develop their skills, earn an increased income and for our Juniper customers, provide excellent care.

Country Liaison Officer (CLO) Makereta Rokoduru visited the residential aged care home in November to introduce herself, check in with staff and to answer any questions.

CLOs such as Makereta are appointed by Pacific and Timor-Leste governments to support workers in Australia.

The visit offered a reminder for the staff members to support each other, and that Makareta was also available to provide them with assistance or guidance as needed.

Being from the same country and having that level of understanding of their backgrounds, it is hoped that Makareta will make regular meetings with PALM workers to answer their queries.

As well as Derby, we are fortunate at Juniper to have Fijian team members at our Residential Aged Care homes in Albany and Fitzroy Crossing.
