Food, Dining and Nutrition at Juniper Residential Aged Care

Fresh food. Warm connections. Choice.

At Juniper, we know that good food nourishes more than the body — it brings joy, sparks conversation, and creates a sense of community. That’s why we created DINE — a dining experience built around fresh, nourishing food prepared daily by Juniper chefs.

A fresh take on dining

DINE is all about delicious, nutritious meals made daily with fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. We believe you should feel good about what you eat — and that starts with knowing your food is prepared with care, quality, and flavour in mind.

Your table, your choice

With DINE, you’re in control. DINE offers menu options at every meal, weekly resident’s choice menu, chef’s table luncheons for feedback on the seasonal menu offerings, snack stations so you can grab a snack any time of the day or night.

More than a meal

Dining with Juniper is a chance to connect. Share a story with a neighbour, enjoy a laugh with staff, chat with the chef, or invite loved ones to join you. Food brings us together, and DINE helps make every mealtime an enjoyable social experience.

DINE meals are:

  • Fresh
  •  Seasonal, local ingredients
  •  Nutritious
  •  Delicious
  •  Prepared daily by our chefs

Texture modified food options

For our residents that have trouble with swallowing (dysphagia), we offer a texture modified food and drink that follows the internationally recognised IDDSI guidelines.

Our Juniper chefs are trained to meet the IDDSI guidelines so we can provide our residents with food and liquid of appropriate texture and consistency, that also smells and tastes great.

It’s not just a matter of sticking food in a blender – we texture modify the main course on all our menus for residents that require this option and add additional nutritional ingredients to ensure our residents are tasting the same food as everyone else, while still catering to their dietary needs to help keep them strong and healthy.

Chef's table program

To keep dining fresh, tasty, and entertaining for customers, Juniper’s innovative hospitality team holds regular chef’s table luncheons.

The two-course luncheons, which generally host between six and 12 people, give customers an opportunity to trial dishes shortlisted for the upcoming seasonal menu.

Held monthly at all Juniper residential aged care homes, the luncheons provide the hospitality team with valuable feedback to refine menus and a relaxed way for our talented chefs to get to know customers.

Damper in the Kimberley

Our DINE team is always excited to learn more about our customers—their unique skills, knowledge, memories and passion for cooking that they bring to the table.

Juniper Hospitality Services Manager Kirrie Hall had the pleasure of chatting with Juniper Gerdewoonem customer Helen Clifton in Kununurra, and their shared love of cooking sparked a special exchange.

“It turned out that Helen was giving me a master class in damper making and barbecuing,” Kirrie said. “Helen loved being involved and said that making bread gives her great joy and that it was a weekend job when lots of family were around.

“Customers love the outdoor cooking, they love the smell, the fire and the group activity of being all together enjoying food.”

Fresh produce markets

Juniper’s innovative fresh produce market stalls, in partnership with Fresh Frontier, offer a delicious array of seasonal fruits and vegetables, smoothies and freshly cooked food have been making their way across Juniper sites.

The popular event has created a sense of community for Juniper customers, which went hand in hand with attending local markets and promoting healthy living.

Kitchen tours

Customers are invited to tour our Rowethorpe Catering Centre kitchen where the focus is on preparing homemade meals.

The one-hour kitchen tours enable customers to see the inner workings of the bustling catering centre in Bentley.

During the tour, customers get a first-hand look at chefs and cooks working on the day’s menu, the equipment used to prepare meals, supplies of fresh fruit, vegetables and meats, and the innovative ways the team continues to enhance its meals.

Snack time

Snack stations have been rolled out across Juniper residential aged care homes providing food choices for residents around the clock.

Whether it’s fresh fruit, a bowl of cereal, biscuits, banana bread or cheese and biscuits, there’s a delicious array of snacks that are always at the ready for residents.

Resident’s Choice

Across our homes, resident’s are given the opportunity to design their own perfect menu with our Resident’s Choice.
